Meetings! Moar Meetings!
Did you know the planning committee is in two parts, with one meeting on Thursday nights at 9pm SLT, and the other meeting on Sunday mornings at 9am SLT? Now you do know! We want to make it easier for more burners to attend meetings and contribute to the community’s events. Join us!
Note: No meetings this week; we will resume after the New Year.
If you have an idea or would like to contribute in some way, you are welcome to come to the meetings. If either of these times is not good for you, you can always drop a notecard on iSkye Silverweb inworld and she will bring your ideas and suggestions to the next meeting.
Just for your information, we have these events every year:
- Winter Burn– January/February
- Burnal Equinox– March/April
- Conception – early July
- OctoBurn – duh, October
- SKIN BURN– 1-2 weeks after OctoBurn
Sometimes we will have other one-day events, like races with Mutant Vehicles, speedbuilds, etc. Burners who want to use the playa for such purposes are welcome, so long as the playa aesthetics are kept along with being within the Ten Principles and SL’s ToS. Got an event idea? Fill in the event proposals form to get your idea reviewed and we can help you make it happen.
We bring you updates about these events and other Burn2 news on this site, our Facebook page, and also inworld in group notices – be sure to be in the BurningMan 2.0 group to stay up to date.
About the Coming Winter Burn
We’ve got dates and a theme, and we’re forming up the event leads and teams. Want to be a part of the event? Come to the next meeting in 2019! Meanwhile, here are some early bits of info. A press release will go out in a couple of weeks.
Winter Burn 2019: Seasonal Perceptions
January 25-27, 2019
About the theme: Perception — the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses.
This is particularly important as we move through the seasons… especially the holidays. However, our perceptions are affected by our environment… the things and people around us. Even the weather! At this time of year, one person might be shoveling the snow off his driveway while another might spend the day surfing the waves off the coast of Australia!
But it is also influenced by our imaginations. Michael Whelan, a world-renowned artist, once did a painting of his young daughter who loved playing in the sandbox. What he did differently is depict his daughter wearing a spacesuit and playing in a lunar sandbox!
Our perceptions ares a driving force in how we interact with the world around us. But imagination is also a strong influencer. Given all that, how would you perceive the seasons? Would you reflect the environment around you… or imagine something completely off the wall and different? Show us your “Seasonal Perceptions!”
So now there you have it, something to think about – perhaps it will inspire some ideas for plot builds, music to DJ, burn effigy ideas…if yes, plan to attend the next meeting and be part of this next happening at Burn2.
